Spring Seminar Speaker Series

Presenter:
Mitch Farbstein

Presentation Summary:
Information Governance and Records Management: Harmony or Discord?
As organizations are subjected to greater transparency in their business and management activities, governing the information lifecycle has become extremely challenging. Records management, as one of the key activities of the information lifecycle, is subject to IG policies and dictates (if they formally exist). In this session we will explore whether or not the organization’s IG policies can be practically implemented related to its ever expanding record inventory. Will a productive symbiotic or a unproductive contentious relationship exist between IG and RM? The potential for either possibility exists, but harmony is the goal and definitely achievable. Find out how in this session!
More about Mitch: Mitch Farbstein has been Vice President of Sales for Feith Systems for over 23 years, helping establish Feith’s Enterprise Records Management and Business Process Management footprint.
After beginning his technology career in data processing in 1978 and focusing on ECM starting in 1986, Mitch joined Feith in 1993 where his strong technical background and knowledge of diverse computing platforms and business experience provided a strong foundation for architecting Enterprise Information and Records Management Solutions.
Mitch holds BS and MS degrees in education/biology from Bucknell University, where he earned multiple votes for the 1971 Heisman Trophy, and was inducted into the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 1991.
Mitch established Records Management University (RMU) for Feith in 2014. This unique on-line series of more than 70 original classes has provided over 5,000 registered records managers and technicians practical and insightful information on records management as an integral component of the information lifecycle. AIIM has recognized RMU as the second best training for records managers. The classes are free and attendees have earned continuing education credits from the ICRM, IGP and AIIM.
